Das Ford C6 3-Gang Getriebe mit hydraulischem Drehmomentwandler ist das stärkste Automatikgetriebe der Torino-Reihe. Es ist meistens in Big Block, aber auch in Cleveland-Torinos verbaut. Im Einsatz war es von 1966 bis 1996, häufig auch in Trucks. Bei einem Getriebetausch ist unbedingt auf die unterschiedlichen Gehäuse zu achten. Es gibt 5 verschiedene Getriebeglocken:
- Reihensechser, Windsor und 351 Cleveland
- 351M & 400M Cleveland und die 385er Motoren (429er und 460er)
- FE Motoren (390er, 427er und 428er)
- MEL Motoren (selten und betrifft 1966er bis 1970er Lincoln Continentals)
- Diesel Motoren
Aber es muss auch auf die Länge der Tailhousing (die „Röhre“ hinten dran) geachtet werden. Es gibt 3 verschiedene:
- 17,4 Zoll für Lincoln Modelle
- 14,0 Zoll für Ford Automobile
- 7,0 Zoll für Ford Trucks
Die Übersetzungen sind wie folgt:
- 1. Gang: 2,46:1
- 2. Gang: 1,46:1
- 3. Gang: 1.00:1
- Reverse: 2,18:1
Das C6 erkennt man eigentlich sofort an dem einteiligen Alugehäuse. Anders als beim C4 kann man die Getriebeglocke nicht tauschen. Wichtig ist das zu verwendende Getriebeöl. Getriebe von 1966 bis 1976 benötigen ATF Typ F, Getriebe ab 1977 benötigen Dexron III.
